Bait Al Aali is a family-run guesthouse set inside a 300-year-old clay house in the old village of Al Hamra, Oman. Built from mud, hay, and gravel in the traditional Omani style, the house has been carefully restored to offer modern comfort while keeping its original character — thick clay walls, wooden beams, and handcrafted details throughout.
This is a place to slow down. Enjoy coffee on the rooftop terrace as the sun rises over the Hajar Mountains, wander the narrow alleys of the old town, or simply sit at our communal dining table and share stories with fellow travelers over a homemade dinner.
Where You'll Be
Al Hamra is a centuries-old town on the southern slopes of the Jebel Akhdar range in northeastern Oman, roughly 45 minutes from Nizwa and a short drive from Bahla, known for its pottery and ancient fort. Staying at Bait Al Aali puts you within easy reach of some of Oman's most striking landscapes:
Jebel Shams — Oman's highest peak and the dramatic "Grand Canyon of Arabia," about a 1.5-hour drive away
Jebel Akhdar — terraced mountain villages, rose farms, and cool highland air, also around a 1.5-hour drive away
Misfat Al Abriyeen — a postcard-perfect oasis village with ancient irrigation channels, just minutes from our door

A Guesthouse With a Story
Bait Al Aali isn't a hotel — it's a home. After years of renovation, we opened our doors in 2022, determined to preserve the soul of this old clay house while giving travelers a genuinely comfortable place to stay. Mud construction keeps the rooms naturally cool in summer and warm in winter, just as it has for the families who lived here for generations.
We offer six individually designed guestrooms, most with ensuite bathrooms, ideal for couples, families, friends, and solo travelers alike.
Each room reflects the original architecture of the region — natural materials, warm earth tones, and quiet corners for reading or resting after a day in the mountains.
Homemade breakfast with homemade bread, fresh juice and fruits is included every morning, and we're always happy to serve homemade and traditional Omani dinner, point you toward the best hiking routes, or help plan day trips into the surrounding villages and wadis.
